Before 1968 some Stax artists were released in New Zealand on the Atlantic Records label.

In 1968 Festival Records started issuing Stax releases on the Stax label locally. Singles were issued in the Festival company sleeve.

In 1972 Phonogram took over distribution of Stax in New Zealand. Singles were issued in the Phonogram company sleeve.
