This site provides information about the record company sleeves used for New Zealand pressed and distributed 7" vinyl 45s. There are some gaps and possible mistakes. If you can add a correct date or sleeve please add a comment or email us. The images of the centre labels are meant to be a guide. Some record companies produced multiple variations of their labels. Too many to show here. This site is dedicated to record sleeves.

Warner Bros

Warner Bros: 1960 to 1962

In 1960 Top Rank Records (NZ) Ltd started distributing the American label Warner Bros. in New Zealand. In 1961 Top Rank Records became Allied International Records Ltd. The center labels reflected that change. I am unsure what sleeve singles were issued in during this period. Possibly the Allied International sleeve. If you can shed light on this please leave a comment.

Warner Bros: 1962 to 1969

In 1962 Warner Bros. changed the design of their sleeve and centre label. The below sleeve was introduced. The front of the sleeves states "Manufactured and distributed by Top Rank". Yet the new centre label says "Manufactured in New Zealand by His Master's Voice (NZ) Ltd". The sleeve featured the same design on both sides as well as with ads printed on the back.  They are the standard ads for His Master's Voice releases and have His Master's Voice's name or logo on them. If you can shed light on this please leave a comment.

I am unsure when this back was introduced. Judging by the dates of the releases advertised on it. No earlier than 1962.

Warner Bros. Sleeve Back 1962?

The Record Player sleeve below, is featured on the back of many His Master's Voice (NZ) Ltd distributed labels. I am unsure of the exact dates this sleeves was used. The prices in the ads are in Pounds, Shillings and Pence so it is before 1967 when the decimal currency was introduced in New Zealand. Possibly 1965-66. It was printed in different colours.

In 1975 WEA (NZ) Ltd it went fully independent and started distributing their own releases. All subsequent releases were issued in a WEA company sleeve.
