Elektra

Although American label Elektra had a presence in New Zealand since 1957, its first seven inch vinyl 45 was not released until 1967.

Elektra: 1967 to 1971

In 1967 La Gloria had the distribution rights to Elektra. Singles were released in a 'Wallpaper' sleeve.

Elektra: 1971 to 1975

In mid 1971 H.M.V. (soon to be EMI) took over distributing Elektra. A unique sleeve was introduced.

In 1972 H.M.V. (NZ) Ltd was renamed EMI (New Zealand) Ltd. The sleeve changed accordingly.

Elekra 1975 to 1978

Elekra was the 'E" in WEA. In 1975 when the distribution deal with EMI for the WEA group of labels expired, WEA Records N.Z. Limited was formed. WEA started disturbing Elekra. Singles were issued in the WEA company sleeve.

Elekra 1978 to 1982

WEA changed their company sleeve  early or mid-1978. The white WEA sleeve was introduced.

In 1982 the blue WEA sleeve was introduced.

Elektra ceased releasing singles in New Zealand by the end of 1986.
