Philips Electrical Industries Of New Zealand Limited had been releasing 78s on the Philips label in New Zealand since 1953. It started issuing singles on the seven inch vinyl format in 1957.

In 1970, the distribution arm of Philips Electrical Industries of New Zealand Ltd was rebranded as Polygram Records (NZ) Ltd. Both the sleeve and centre label changed design and colour. The red sleeve was introduced.

In 1972 Polygram Records Ltd became Phonogram Ltd. Philips 45s were issued in the Phonogram company sleeve.

In 1978 Phonogram was renamed PolyGram again. The above sleeve, with Phonogram on the bottom right corner is from 1975 to 1978. If it has polyGram, it is from 1978 to 1981.

In 1981, PolyGram introduced a new company sleeve.
The Philips label was wound down in New Zealand in 1983.
