Pye

In the mid 1950's G. A. Wooller & Co Ltd obtained local rights to the newly formed British label Ply Records. G. A. Wooller & Co Ltd setup Pye (NZ) Ltd. From 1957 until 1960 the Pye label only released EPs. Single were released on the Pye Nixa label.

In 1960 the label name was shorted to Pye.

In 1962 the red Pye sleeve was introduced.

In 1969 the Pye Record Manufacturing Division (pressing plant) was opened in Paeroa the sleeve was changed.

In 1972 the orange Pye sleeve was introduced.

In 1977 Phonogram Ltd took over distribution of the Pye label. Singles were issued in the Phonogram company sleeve.

In 1978 Phonogram was renamed PolyGram. The above sleeve with Phonogram on the bottom right corner is from 1976 to 1978. If it has polyGram it is from 1978 to 1981.
