In 1956, Pye (NZ) Ltd started distributing Mercury Records in New Zealand. Singles were issued in an unique sleeve.

In 1963 Philips Electrical Industries Ltd took over the manufacturing and distribution of Mercury Records. The sleeve changed accordingly.

In 1970, the distribution arm of Philips Electrical Industries of New Zealand Ltd was rebranded as Polygram Records (NZ) Ltd. In 1971 Mercury singles started to be issued in the Polygram company sleeve.

In 1978 Phonogram was renamed PolyGram again. The above sleeve, with Phonogram on the bottom right corner is from 1975 to 1978. If it has polyGram, it is from 1978 to 1981.
