Vertigo: 1970 to 1972
In 1970 the distribution arm of Philips Electrical Industries of New Zealand Ltd had just been rebranded PolyGram (NZ) Ltd. It obtained the rights to the newly formed British label Vertigo Records. I am unsure of the dates that the below Vertigo sleeve was used. Singles would have likely to have been issued in the PolyGram company sleeve. I am unsure. If you can shed some light on this please leave a comment.
Vertigo Centre Label 1970 to 1972
Vertigo: 1972 to 1975
In 1972 PolyGram became Phonogram. The sleeve design changed accordingly.
Vertigo Sleeve 1972 to 1975
Vertigo Centre Label 1972 to 1974
Vertigo: 1975 to 1981
In 1975 Phonogram introduced the dark brown sleeve.
In 1978 Phonogram changed it's name back to PolyGram. The sleeve was changed to reflect that. The above sleeve, with Phonogram on the bottom right corner is from 1975 to 1978. If it has polyGram, it is from 1978 to 1981.
After 1985 Vertigo singles released in New Zealand were manufactured in Australia. I am unsure if they were issued in an Australian or New Zealand Sleeve. If you can shed light on this please leave a comment or email me. Thanks.
The last vinyl Vertigo singles was released in New Zealand in 1991.
